Men's Swimming and Diving Rated Seventh in Avidasports Performance December Poll

Jan. 11, 2011

Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's swimming and diving has been recognized for its strong December performances by being ranked seventh nationally in the Avidasports Performance poll for the month. The Owls are the highest ranked Sun Belt Conference team in the poll, which is based on team performances in competitions during the month.

FAU was victorious against the University of Cincinnati and the Air Force Academy during their own invitational on December 18, 2010. The team also fared well in match ups against nationally ranked Louisiana State University and Purdue University on January 5 that also was counted during the competition reporting period.

A balanced team effort highlights the men's team's performance so far this season, with multiple scores in various events. These standout swimmers include junior Mikolaj Czarnecki, who won the 200-yard butterfly event and posted a season-best time in the 100-yard butterfly race at the last meet; senior Adam Corbin, who earned runner-up honors in the 200-yard freestyle at the FAU Invitational; and junior Csaba Pek, who has been named the Sun Belt Conference's Male Swimmer of the Week once this season. Adding depth to the team are senior David Rudolf, sophomore Eric Williams and junior diver Ryan King.

The Owls will put their national reputation on the line against No. 4-ranked University of Florida for a dual meet on Saturday, January 15.
