Senior Jeff Blanchard Averages Three Yards a Carry and Nine Per Reception

BOCA RATON, FL - God has a plan and I have faith in God. Six years ago I began my quest for a college education and the opportunity to play college football. I first went to Garden City Community College. My second season was amazing with the opportunity to rush for 1,266 yards.

I returned home to play college football for a team that wasn't at full FBS status yet. I broke my ankle after one game. The following year everything was on track with a good fall and a great spring until I suffered a torn ACL during spring drills. Football can be taken away any day, any second -- as a son of a single mother who didn't have the opportunity to attend college and a father who wasn't present in my life due to personal reasons, I knew my education was one thing that would make them both proud.

I have used my time at FAU to graduate in December 2009 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. The most amazing feeling was seeing my mother's face at graduation. FAU has provided me with all the help I will ever need to be successful both on and off the field. I will pursue a second degree in criminal justice and plan to graduate in December 2010.

My name is Jeff Blanchard.
I'm an FAU running back.
I do it for the doubters.
