BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team practiced just one time on Wednesday, but it may have been the hottest day of the 2010 preseason camp.
The two hour plus practice began with kickoff coverage and moved into individual work and unit work. Everyone came together for the inside drills and to work on the blitz. The defense had a good day with Curtis Cross grabbing two interceptions and senior linebacker Michael Lockey another. Tarvoris Hill nearly had an INT but was credited with a break-up. Offensively, Avery Holley had back-to-back catches and Rob Housler came up strong in the middle.
FAU's preseason practice work will continue on Thursday with the final three-a-day of the 2010 camp. The Owls will hit the field at 8 a.m., again at 10:30 and complete the grinding three-a-day portion of camp at 4:30 p.m. All practices are free and open to the public.
The Owls will kick-off the 2010 season Thursday, September 2 at UAB. Season tickets as well as single-game tickets are on sale and can be purchased on line or by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
Worthy of Note:
Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger departed, at the end of practice, for Detroit, MI. Schnellenberger will join Michigan State's Head Coach Mark Dantonio at Ford Field for a Thursday press conference. The duo will participate in a press conference that will announce the September 11 contest between the two schools.
