When you hit a roadblock -- you weigh your options and you make a move. There are always decisions to be made, some are easy and some develop over time. I grew up in a close family, a family that enjoyed sports, especially baseball. My father played baseball, moving up the ranks to semi-pro ball. That is where my sports career began. My career took me to the Junior Olympics as a third baseman/catcher but my size took me to football. My high school career was at American Heritage where I had the opportunity to play and earn all-county honors in football, basketball and track. But, to continue playing sports I needed to begin my collegiate career at a Division III school. I chose Mount Union where I played a part in capturing the national championship in 2007. It was very cold and very different than South Florida, but the teammates were the same. I stayed focused and continued to work on academics, which would eventually provide the opportunity to return home to finish college and complete my playing career.
My name is Ryan Houston.
I'm an FAU offensive lineman.
