Bucz Has Another NCAA Qualifying Time for Women's Swimming in Georgia Tech Invitational

Atlanta, Ga. - It was another NCAA championships qualifying performance for standout Florida Atlantic University women's swimmer Eszter Bucz on Sunday in the prestigious Georgia Tech Invitational, helping the Owls to a 10th place finish in Atlanta.

FAU's 192 points in the three-day event ranked ahead of Auburn University of the Southeastern Conference and the United States Air Force Academy. The event also featured No. 1-ranked Texas A&M University, defending NCAA Division I national champion University of Florida and in-state rival Florida State University.

Bucz recorded a NCAA provisionally qualifying time for the third straight day. This time the sophomore from Budapest, Hungary finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a career-best time of 2:14.73. She broke a 23-year old school record in the 400-yard individual medley (4:15.20) on Saturday and broke her own school record in the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.76) during Friday's finals races.

Another FAU standout performer was junior Jonna Nyback, who had two top-10 efforts in the meet. The Koping, Sweden native had an eighth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle event (50.99) on Sunday, gaining 17 valuable team points.

Junior Elizabeth Starke tallied a season-best time in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.46).

The Owls will enjoy some valuable practice time before returning to the pool in a triangular meet against the University of Denver and Rice University on December 18 at the FAU Aquatic Center, 777 Glades Road on the Boca Raton campus.
