BOWLING GREEN, KY - Blair Bodenmiller's two-run homerun to center provided the final margin of victory in Florida Atlantic University's 4-2 over Western Kentucky University on Thursday.
Bodenmiller's shot came in the top of the third inning also drove in Ashlyn Parmerter. It was her team-leading seventh of the season and second in three games. An RBI single by Shannon Smith in the bottom of the fifth inning cut the Owls' lead in half, 2-1.
FAU (25-25, 8-10 Sun Belt) added two runs in the top of the seventh when Kerri Croney drove in Amy Bukovich. Amber Barton also scored on the play when the ball got away from the WKU catcher. The Hilltoppers scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and had the winning run at the plate when Kelsey McCauley grounded out to second to end the game. Barton improved to 6-4 with the complete game win.
The Owls improved to 9-0 all-time against the Hilltoppers in Sun Belt play. The teams split two meetings as part of last season's Parents' Weekend Tournament. FAU continues its seven-game road trip on Saturday when they face Middle Tennessee State in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. eastern start.
