Track Team Prepares for Sun Belt Outdoors

May 6, 2008

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University track team will head to Denton, Texas for the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11.

The Owls will head to the meet, hosted by the University of North Texas, with the intention of improving last year's eighth place finish. At last year's meet, FAU tallied nine top-10 finishes and had the 4x400 meter relay team register a regional qualifying time.

The FAU track team and its coach, Alex Smolka, are aiming for more athletes to automatically qualify for the NCAA Regional. Toyria Mattear (400-meter hurdles) and Friederike Feil (3,000-meter steeplechase) have already posted automatic qualifying times.

Live results of the meet will be available at deltatiming.com.
