Track Team Has Good Weekend at Separate Events

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic track team performed well at two meets over the weekend.

At the Elite Invitational, Toni Jackson (2:18.13/6th) and Charlene Luxama (2:19.64/7th) gave FAU two top-10 finishers in the 800 meters. The Owls placed third in both the men's and women 3,000 meter steeplechase. Jordan Dopkins (10:54.69) and Jaymie Brooks (12:41.07) both ran well in their races. Taylor Reeves also placed third in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:48.85.

In the Sun Angel Classic, Brandi Prather finished 2nd in the 400 meter dash. In the 1,500 meter Friederike Fiel was the 7th place finisher. Toyria Mattear, who has already automatically qualifed for NCAA Regionals in the 400 meter hurdles, bettered her previous time in that event. Mattear ran a 59.66, good for 7th place. Lindsay Glover ran a 1:10.23 in the event, missing the NCAA automatic qualifying time by just .41 seconds.

Former Owl recorded top-10 finishes in both the 100 meter dash (11.81/6th) and the 100-meter hurdles (13.28/7th). The Owls do not compete again until they take part in the storied Penn Relays on April 24-26th.
