FAU Men's Soccer Upsets Duke University

The Florida Atlantic University (3-9-1) men's soccer team defeated Duke University in overtime 2-1. A member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Duke (6-5-1) is ranked 3rd in the South Region. Locked at 0-0 in the 35 minute, Duke's Mike Grella knocked in the Bluedevil's only goal of the night in a one-on-one situation with FAU goalkeeper Phillip Lamarre.

The Owls travel to Kentucky to face Western Kentucky University Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. It will be the first-ever meeting between WKU and FAU.While WKU is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, this will not be a conference contest as the Hilltopers are completing the two-year transition into Division I-A.

Cross Country Prepares for Final Regular Season Meet

The Florida Atlantic University cross country team will take part in its final regular season meet on Saturday, October 18, when it travels to Deland for the Hatter Invitational hosted by Stetson University. The meet hosts teams from all over the state of Florida and will serve as the Owls' last tune-up before FAU heads to the Sun Belt.

Florida Atlantic University's women's soccer team returns home to play two weekend matches. The Owls will play Troy University (6-7-2, 1-5 Sun Belt Conference) on Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m. and the University of South Alabama (4-8-2, 2-2-2 SBC) on Sunday, October 19 at noon at FAU Field, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. Coming off a pair of SBC victories on the road, FAU (3-8-1, 2-3-1 SBC) moved into sixth place among 11 teams in the SBC standings.
