Florida International Offense Too Much for FAU

Florida International benefited from the big inning, scoring four times in the first and breaking open a tie game with a six-run sixth to outscore rival Florida Atlantic 11-7 Friday. The Golden Panthers beat FAU for just the third time in the last 14 meetings between the two South Florida schools.

Bodenmiller Named to All-Academic Squad

Florida Atlantic University softball player Blair Bodenmiller recently was named to the CoSIDA Distict III All-Academic Second Team. The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. She is the first Owl to receive the honor since Ginny Matthews was named to the squad in 2002. Bodenmiller recently completed her red shirt sophomore season for the Owls. She has a 3.96 GPA and is majoring in political science.

Volleyball Takes Tour of Nicaragua

The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team recently took a trip through Nicaragua. The nine-day trip through the Central American country marked the end of the team's spring practice schedule. The team played two matches against the Nicaraguan National Team and volunteered while on the trip. They also donated clothing to the may needy families in the area.

Owls Finish 7th at Sun Belt Outdoor Meet

The Florida Atlantic University track team finished 7th at the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend. The Owls finished 8th at last year's meet. Friederike Feil claimed the 3,000 meter steeplechase title in a time of 10:55.52. It was Feil's third individual title as an Owl, after winning both the mile and 3,000 meter steeplechase at last season's indoor meet. Feil finished 2nd in the 1,500 meter and fourth in the 5,000 meters.
